2019 La Belle Promenade Pinot Noir

La Belle Promenade is an extraordinary, high elevation site that was once an orchard growing cherries, prunes, and blackberries that was abandoned, leaving only the hundred-year-old ghost barn as a reminder of the past. The land was purchased and planted in 2012 by Marty Dorschlag and his stellar and seasoned vineyard team in his quest to build the next magical estate in Chehalem Mountains.

Marty Dorschlag planted this beautiful property in 2012 on a long-abandoned orchard that had grown cherries, prunes, and blackberries. The vineyard, at high elevation, has a cool microclimate which leads to a high toned character to the wines. We love the pure and juicy fruit, always reminiscent of those crops grown here in the past.

“Deep, glistening red. Mineral-accented red and blue fruits, exotic spices and a candied rose quality on the fragrant nose. Juicy and seamless in texture, showing fine clarity and floral lift to the sappy raspberry, boysenberry, spicecake and botanical herb flavors. Becomes sweeter and deeper with air and finishes velvety and long, with gentle tannic grip and repeating florality.” - Josh Raynolds

“As this young (planted 2012) vineyard gets its roots down, the potential seems limitless. The wine is fragrant and inviting, a lush mix of strawberries, blueberries and cherries. There is a pleasing brambly character, lemony acidity and a hint of mineral. It all cascades through a full-flavored midpalate and on into a lightly peppery finish. Plenty of potential, but already a great drinking wine.”

TASTING NOTES
The nose is complex and brooding. Earthen with hints of blood orange, soy, and fig. The wine coats the entire palate with big velvety tannins. Sweet at its core it’s like eating the whole strawberry. The wine finishes with notes of cedar and citrus.
