AVERÆN

2019 Croft Vineyard Pinot Noir

Farmed by Lee & Chancy Croft, this certified organic vineyard was planted with Pommard & Wadenswil clones in 1985 and sits at 380 feet elevation on southeast facing slopes. Bellpine soils characterize the site with silty clay loam and uplifted seabed over sandstone parent material giving the wine a particular intensity without being overtly tannic or overripe.

BLEND | 100% Pinot Noir

VINEYARDS |CROFT VINEYARD - Willamette Valley (future home of Mt. Pisgah-Mistletoe AVA)
The soil here is extra special as we do not have Bellpine anywhere else in our program. That marine-influenced soil paired with a microclimate that is metered and less windy than most other spots in the Willamette Valley gives the wines from this site a particular intensity and power without being overtly tannic or overripe.

PRESS | 93 POINTS VIN
“Limpid ruby. Smoke- and mineral-accented kirsch, red berry, exotic spice and floral pastille aromas show excellent clarity and take on cola and succulent herb nuances with air. Appealingly sweet and focused on the palate, offering nicely concentrated black raspberry, cherry cola and spicecake flavors that become livelier on the back half. Closes gently chewy and very long, with slowly building tannins and resonating florality.” - Josh Raynolds

“The tart brambly red berry fruit is backed with ample acidity and some chewy tannins that have a note of caraway. The balance among all the components marks this as especially ageworthy. It will need a bit more bottle age to smooth out and open up completely.” - CELLAR SELECTION
