Gómez Cruzado

2016 Honorable

BLEND | Mostly Tempranillo, with Garnacha, Graciano, Mazuelo & Viura (field blend)

VINEYARDS | Honorable is the winery’s most historic label dating back more than 100 years to the time when the cellar was bought in 1916 by Ángel and Jesús Gómez Cruzado. - The fruit comes from the oldest vineyards on the estate (50+ years), situated in the foothills of the Sierra Cantabria, with a south-southeast orientation on whitish calcareous clay soils.

WINEMAKING | Primary and malolactic fermentation in new oak barrique with weekly batonage, followed by 18 months in French thin grained oak barrels.

PRESS | 93 WA “Honorable has always been the most traditional of their bottlings, but the 2016 Honorable shows a lot less oaky than in past vintages. The wine is fresh and balanced, keeping its balsamic side but giving more room to fruit and chalkiness, coming through as cleaner and more focused. I’m sure the freshness of 2016 has helped, but there is a clear line of progression in all the wines, and Honorable is not an exception.“ - Luis Gutierrez
