Mas Que Vinos
2019 Ercavio Tempranillo Viñas de Meseta
BLEND | 100% Cencibel (Tempranillo)
VINEYARDS | Cencibel, the local clone of Tempranillo, is uniquely suited to the harsh climate of the area with a smaller, more compact bunch size and thicker skin to withstand heavy winds. Bush & trellised vines (average of 50 years old) on limestone & clay soils at 750-800 meters.
WINEMAKING | Fermentation in stainless steel tanks followed by malolactic in cement amphora (tinajas). Aging for 5-8 months in French and American oak barrels.
TASTING NOTES |
Expressive aromas of dark fruit: black cherry, plum and blueberry mixed with a pleasant minerality, hints of cedar, vanilla, liquorice, spice and espresso. Medium bodied, yet dense, this wine offers ripe tannins under a complex blanket of black fruit. The acidity is well balanced and the finish is long and velvety.

“The 2019 Ercavio Tempranillo Viñas de Meseta has a sweet nose with spices and a creamy touch after six months in used barrels. It comes from 30- to 50-year-old Cencibel vines on limestone soils in the villages of Villatobas, Villarubia, Dosbarrios and Cabañas. It’s young and fruit-driven and has a juicy palate with fine tannins and a long, dry finish. 50,000 bottles produced and bottled in five lots from a master blend kept in concrete.”
